Metro Board Certifies Mid-City/ Exposition Corridor Phase I Final EIS/EIR and Route Options

On December 15, 2005 the Board of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority certified the Phase I Final Environmental Impact Statement/ Environmental Impact Report for the Mid-City/ Exposition Corridor light rail transit line.  This certification is very important because it allows plans for the transit line to move forward to construction, which is scheduled to begin in the next year.

The Mid-City/ Exposition Corridor transit line will improve the mobility and quality of life of all transit users.  It will also provide commuters with an alternative to driving on the Santa Monica Freeway, thereby relieving congestion and reducing emissions. The first phase will be built from 7th/Metro Center in downtown Los Angeles to Culver City; Metro intends to eventually build the transit line all the way to Santa Monica.
